tommy & sarah's butte top wedding {part two}

tommy and sarah's ethereal wedding was a blast to shoot. it felt more like i was paparazzi enjoying a good party...
and good party it was! go here if you missed part one.

i'll let sarah's own words lead you in:

"The reception took place in a tent below. We were able to have the wedding an indoor-outdoor event, which included a patio, a fire pit and a pool. It was chilly once the sun was going down, so most everything took place inside the tent. Though it was nice to mingle by the fire once it was night time. Our wedding was the first to take place at Red Ledges, and their staff was incredibly eager and helpful in letting us plan everything and making sure the first wedding was perfect. Chef Daniel from Red Ledges created the wedding menu, which was AMAZING. He asked us what our favorite foods were... and then what our price range was. He came up with a very unique menu that was a perfect blend of our taste at the right price. The menu even included "Holy Water Buffalo Chili," named after Tommy's band. We also served white wine, sangria punch as well as locally brewed Bohemian Beer at the bar.

My bridesmaids and I collected old beer, whiskey, San Pellegrino water bottles, and any other vintage glass bottles we found, tied hemp and ribbon around them and used them as vases. We bought a selection of flowers from Costco and we placed them on the tables in all sorts of arrangements. It was a very fun DIY project and was a great way to save money. We also spent some time making the tissue poms that hung amongst the lights in the tent.

Tommy and 3 of his groomsmen play in a band called Holy Water Buffalo so they played a show for the guests. It was wonderful to have the entire room dancing and i really noticed people were unified as opposed to segregated. We also had our friend Pat Maine, who is a hip-hop artist perform. There was never a dull moment at the wedding. I wanted to have everyone celebrating together, and moving around, so that no one would stay seated for long periods of time, but instead be interactive and have a great time.

All aspects of the wedding really were perfect and it was wonderful to see the ideas I had in mind come to fruition. Most importantly i got to marry my best friend on this perfect day."

...and then it was time for holy water buffalo to perform.
it was hard not to dance, let me tell you.

here it is. tommy and sarah's wedding that i am unabashedly obsessed with.
tommy and sarah wanted to be married in the midst of God's creations and this october day was perfect in every way. the red ledges in heber was a no brainer. its natural beauty on top of a red rock butte was utterly breathtaking as you're about to see. tommy and sarah wanted it very simple; no chairs, no seating arrangements, nothing traditional - just everyone standing around witnessing what was really important this day.

jennifer, clifton, and their families spared no expense in making this wedding day nothing but beautiful, full to the brim with personal touches throughout the whole reception. they all helped in designing and building the light canopy to personalized wood signs, fabric flowers and wreaths, pictures galore in a perfectly quaint seating area... jennifer's sister even organized a surprise flash mob dance (which was awesome!) jen always knew she would have snow cones at her wedding so she did just that, while friends of the family helped out in the kitchen with all the yummy food. the couple shared their first dance in a sandbox that jen grew up playing in, while friends lit lanterns that filled the night sky. this was a lovely day and I was delighted to be a part of it. congratulations jen & clif!

"When Shawn and I met one of the first places he took me was to meet his grandma and to see her garden. Grandma was the sweetest lady ever and the garden, even in the deep winter months of January, was still beautiful. As we walked around the garden you never knew what to expect around each corner. As Shawn and I continued to date we would visit his Grandma every Sunday. It was a very special time for us. I was able to get to know his grandma and she was able to share personal experiences with us. After each visit we would work in the garden together. It was a place that we could share our thoughts and also just chat about day to day to things. We both have our favorite spots. Shawn took me to his and got down on one knee and proposed. I was very surprised but would not have wanted it any other way.
We both knew that the garden was the place to get married.
We grew together there. It holds a very special place in both of our hearts."

i am in the process of launching my first official website {muy excited!} and in doing so i have been going through some of my first sessions. my first edits weren't all awful persay, but they were definitely an experimental phase. you can't just find your voice the first day on the job. my eye is always changing, always learning. i feel that now i am more comfortable all around and the way i edit has to be consistent and overall, what i want. if i love my images, i'm sure that my lovely clients will as well.

here is the beautiful michelle. she's made her appearance on my blog a year ago and i wanted to re-edit our session because she deserves to be seen in a prettier light if you will.

jessica & stu {wedding day!}

Jessica and Stu's big day was perfect- freezing cold/snow and all. Since I had an obscene amount of favorites, I decide to overload this post just so you can truly understand how special this wedding really was. I'll let Jessica's own words lead you in:

"Well, I grew up with trees, imaginary friends, flowered crowns and muddy dresses ...a whimsical world I guess you could say, so I wanted nothing less for my wedding.
Planning our wedding started with me having no clue what colors I wanted, I only new I wanted alot of color, and wanted the same easy, happy, and naturally non-traditional look that I love. The colors came finally by going to stores and looking at flowers and placing them together.. mustard yellow, quoral pink, mild blue and moss green - colorful and all the right natural spring/bright/earthy colors that I love.
I wanted the wedding to be full of enjoyment for everyone- the theme was - COME BE HAPPY- So I wanted people involved, feeling the love and happiness.
We had books on every table where guests could give marriage advice, creative dates, and even baby name ideas. I had all the little girls who came wear flower crowns so they could feel apart of it and when I threw my bouquet I made them all into smaller flower bouquets so not just one girl but many of the girls could get flowers.
Two of my favorite parts of the day were me and Stuarts first dance and the song I dedicated to my mom. I wrote a song for my Mom and sang it to her-- I wanted her to feel appreciated and I was tired of how only the Daddy/Daughter dance really shows the appreciation and love to the parents, but the mom does as much or more for the wedding. So I wrote her a song and tears were flowing down her face and I could tell she was touched.
Then after my Dad and I danced it was Stuart's and I first dance. We came together all serious like we were about to have this moment when all of the sudden Earth, Wind, and Fire blasted on and we shook it for the crowd. Everyone laughed and clapped, the best sound of the night- happiness!
Kristin Basset, my wedding planner, went above and beyond with putting everything together----she did EVERYTHING. She caught my look and I know that without her it wouldn't have been the wedding I always dreamed of."
